4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - June 2010
3 TOWNSVILLE FROM DAVE DRABBLE’S PERSPECTIVE G’day Pete All of our boys had a wonderful time although the Battery/Regiment old boys were a bit thin on the ground.!! Most of us stayed in chalets at the WALKABOUT caravan park close to the barracks. The barracks buildings have all changed radically and the only place that looked much the same was the old Guard Room although HK was missing from inside!! The Regiment put on a few static displays and, like the buildings, whole new ball game now compared to the sixties/seventies. The Regiment put on a wonderful display at the "Keys to the City" parade. Their drill was sensational - even better than us - if possible. They did everybody proud. Overall, all had a wonderful trip and get together - as always- had a few meals/drinks etc and told quite a bit of crap. Sometimes I think some of us must have been in a different war!! I have attached several snaps from the trip which may be useful. Best regards mate Dave Drabble ON THE STRAND for the Freedom of the City Parade, Dave Drabble, Alan Hutcheson, John Hauch, Rob Van Wageningen, Col Parkin, Alf Hickinbotham, Jed Taheny, Pat Gibbons, Ron Fritchley, Brian Ruddick, Mark Heuppauff, Rick Liddelow, Ed Szczesniak, John Hume
