4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - September 2014 Edition
8 108 Battery Association Our battery associations are still going stronger than ever. John Wells continues to put out the 108 Battery, “The Journal With No Name” and the latest edition that I have seen in April 2014. If you want to get on to Johns mailing list, then slip him and email to john.wells8@bigpond.com 107 Battery Association 107 Battery is well served by Warren Feakes as President and Hilton Lenard as secretary/treasurer. Have a look at the 107 web site www.107fdbty.com or give Hilton a call on 0418 695 345. I don’t have any contacts for any 106 Battery Association at this stage although I think they are still pretty active in Melbourne. HQ Battery tends to be the major part of our organisation as well. Royal Australian Artillery Historical Company (RAAHC) The RAAHC is keen for and deserves your support. Whether it is for specific events like the 18 Pounder Project, the Memorial Walk at North Head, the library and research centre or just membership you can view the details at their web site www.artilleryhistory.org The main purpose of the association is “to promote the significance of Australia’s Artillery”. Our own Tim Ford is the Chairman. The RAAHC put out a wonderful journal called Cannonball and it contains lots of interesting artillery related stories. Why not check it out and become involved. Australian Artillery Association Another organisation you may be interested in is the Australian Artillery Association. For details, visit their web site www.australianartilleryassociation.com Kim McGrath and Graham Hampton run that organisation and they were responsible for the dinner in Caloundra. RAAHC Obituary Service Many of you will know various aspects of some of our departed comrade’s lives. Whether it be during service or afterwards, if you send me any stories or information on an individual, I will collate it into a suitable obituary for the Obituary Section on the RAAHC web site. This is a great opportunity to honour our departed colleagues. I can get most dates etc, but date of death and personal stories are what is lacking in many obituaries. =============================================================== Well folks, that’s about all I can fit in at the moment. I will email a copy to those for whom I have email addresses, and post a hard copy to others where I have a (current?) mailing address. Please let me know your email address if you have one to help save on postage. Legacy is doing the printing but we supply the paper. I guess I’ll have to lick the envelopes and stamps. If you do not wish to receive further correspondence, just drop me a quick line. Please complete enclosed form and get it back to me as soon as you can. It sounds a long way off but ANZAC Day 2016 in Melbourne will need a bit of pre booking and organising mainly by PJ Smith. Until next time, Take care and best wishes to all Peter Bruce
