4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - November 2015 Edition
I am composing an obituary for Ken Prevost to add to the collection on the RAAHC web site. If anyone would like to contribute anything about Ken, please email me. From Brian Swift via email on 29.09.15 Peter, just got home from the lunch gathering for Frank Stone. A reasonable group turned up, including Keith Hall, David Anderson (drove up from northern NSW for the occasion), Peter Dobbs, Dave and Sandra Larter, Mick and Pat Long, Sandi and ME, greg Young (RP Bdr), Johnno Johnson and Kaye travelled all the way from Perth to attend, good on you Johnno and Kaye. I picked Frank up from his hospital about 10am, received a briefing from his medical carers, and headed for Redlands Bay Hotel. The reunions were really warm and a bit emotional until Frank saw Johnno walking up the ramp. He checked with me as to who it was then his face lit up like a Christmas tree. In hindsight it turned out ok that no others could turn up because I was wary of overwhelming Frank with too many faces, stories and memories. We all had a great time catching up on news and past lives, accompanied by the occasional drink and a really nice meal. Management afforded us a generous discount on food and drink to acknowledge us as veterans having an important reunion, the donated the discount amount to a local charity in our name. A terrific gesture that ensures we will be back. The venue was great -- a large outdoor deck overlooking Moreton Bay. The weather was beautiful and we left just before the 3pm thunderstorm and rain shower. Took a very tired Frank back to hospital to rest and enjoy the memories of a great gathering and the knowledge that we still remember him as a terrific medic and mate. Thanks to those who made the effort, especially Johnno and Kaye.. Love to you all, Swifty From Gabby Hayes. Pete. I just got the latest bank statement. We have $1119.51 in the (everyday) account.
