4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - April 2016 Edition
Secondly, the Australian Artillery Association has been invited to sponsor a Platoon at 1 RTB. The Platoon in question is a recently created Platoon No 44. The Officer Commanding the Platoon has requested we adorn the corridors of the Platoon with photographs of Artillery both current and past. Please read the entire article on our dedicated webpage at URL: http://australianartilleryassociation.com/44_platoon_sponsorship/ad_44_platoon_1rtb_spons orship.htm , or use the link on our Home Page at the bottom of the article. We are asking everyone to consider donating $5.00 each towards this worthwhile project to purchase and framing of these items among others. Finally, beyond the 2017 National Gunner Dinner we are looking at a Gunner Dinner with a difference. On board a cruise ship during a short 3 to 4 day trip conducted locally on the east coast of Australia. We could actually have a dining in night every night not to mention a dining in breakfast and lunch the possibilities are almost endless but what fun it would be. We are canvasing this proposal due to the amount of people who have made suggestions to us but before we proceed any further we would like your input. Please visit the Home Page of the Australian Artillery Association website and view the article which is also covered in the April 2016 eNewsletter. That is all for now, thanks for your time. Graham Hampton. From Brian Swift on 30 March. Peter, again thank you for an informative newsletter. FYI it came through ok both times. On the subject of Melbourne, I have to confirm that Sandi and I cannot make it. Doctors have advised that I stay close to Brisbane. My radiation treatment is having no useful impact on my tumours and they have raised my daily dose for a few weeks as an experiment. Specialist briefed me again on Monday that I should not hold too much hope of a good outcome. At present I am experiencing a lot of side effects/sickness from radiation which is curtailing my activities. Just have to adjust and work through. I've had to resign from my JP volunteer duties due to sickness but have to be careful where I am and with whom. Please pass on to all in Melbourne my best wishes and hope you all have a great time. Talk soon old mate, best regards, Swifty. From Alan Johnston Hi Peter, Sad to say I will not be attending the gathering in Melbourne. Wish you and all those who attend the best and hope everyone has a great time remembering some of the great times we shared together. Cheers Johno.
