Hi Everyone Melbourne ANZAC Day Update Just a reminder that wives/partners/friends and relations are most welcome at all functions. We will have a least one serving soldier marching with us. While in Melbourne and travelling on public transport you will need a MYKI card which are available from all 7 Eleven stores. There are no cash tickets available on any train, tram or bus. Trams within the city area are free. Sunday 24 April: We will gather from 1230 at the Arbory Bar and Eatery, 1 Flinders Walk, Melbourne. Nothing formal is planned as it is just a chance to catch up and renew old friendships. You can get a decent beer, and browse a reasonable wine list. Light meals are available or you can wander over to Southbank during the afternoon to an array of restaurants and eateries. More information on the Arbory is at www.arbory.com.au Best way to access the Arbory Bar is via the steps at the north end of Princess Bridge where the bridge joins Flinders Street Station. Monday 25 April: Dawn Service at the Shrine of Remembrance, St Kilda Road, under own arrangements. Service formally commences at 0600 but there is a moving preamble commencing at 0540 and crowds gather much earlier than that. PJ Smith normally arrives at around 0500 if not a little earlier. Don’t forget a jacket and be prepared for very large crowds. After the Dawn Service, breakfast is by own arrangements. There are a host of places in Southbank or back in the city. ANZAC Day March. Vietnam Veterans are leading the march this year and will follow the official party stepping off at 0910. Assembly point for us will be on the city side of Princess Bridge. Look for the 4 Field Regiment Banner and gather there. We will have our banner there from 0800. The march will take us down St Kilda Road towards the Shrine where we will disperse. Many may wish to stay and support those veterans following us and some may wish to stay for the service at the Shrine.
