4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - February 2018 Edition
5 with many fellow officers from the Wacol days and could not resist spending some time with the regiment in Vietnam during 1970. I forward these thoughts to you as an acknowledgement that your message is getting through - sometimes to people you do not know and who resile for committing their thoughts to paper. In the hopes that these few words will encourage you to keep up the good work... May I now wish you the compliments of the season and look forward to learning more about the 4th Field Regt Spirit. Ubique. Bill Smith. From Peter Catterall . Hi everybody. Wish you all a very Merry Xmas, and hope that the New Year brings you peace, good health, and happiness. I was wondering has anybody heard from Mo Armstrong. All the Best, The Cat. From David and Ann Anderson . A very happy Christmas to all our friends and family. An apology to start. Snail mail cards simply wouldn’t have been completed in time and so, at least for this year, we’ve succumbed to email. The past year has seen our first in ‘real’ retirement. Highlights of the year included acquiring our first caravan; travelling to Europe for Robert’s 70th birthday celebration, visiting Penny’s family in France and enjoying a river cruise on the Douro River in Portugal; hosting visits from a number of family and friends; embarking on a renovation project at our new house in Lennox Head and getting used to living in a suburban coastal environment (we have to admit that Rosebank will always be our ‘spiritual’ home). Our plans for the coming year include completion of the house renovation (but primarily focussing on the garden landscaping); taking ourselves ‘bush’ in the caravan to places yet undiscovered (by us, at least) and enjoying our new house. As always, we look forward to welcoming visitors who find themselves in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales (we’re just a 2 hour drive south of Brisbane). And finally, please accept our good wishes for the New Year. May it be enjoyable, safe, healthy and peaceful. David and Ann. From Keith Hall . Peter, thanks for your good wishes. Had breakfast this morning with Swifty, Peter Dobbs, Mick Long and David Larter... Lance sent his apologies. Our good wishes to you and Susie and thanks for all your efforts keeping the group together. Keith Another from Graeme Leonard (11.02.18) Hello All. I was thinking the other day, yes sometimes my mind still works beyond popular belief. I was flying the UAV at Saunders Beach yesterday and thought what a great place to have a 4FD Regt RAA reunion. Just have a look at the clip I did, we could do some fishing, I could fly the UAV, teach you to fly if you like as long as there are no crashes. This is only a suggestion, because I myself cannot afford to fly to southern areas all the time where a lot of functions are conducted. We could go and see our old stamping ground when we were in barracks, visit the boozer, maybe have a special golf game at the Lavarack Golf Course. I have sent this to as many guys as I had e mails for. Would need some official organizers because I cannot do it. To me I think it is a great idea but will leave it up to you. We can visit the TAFL and see my award, Ha Ha, just joking. Have a great Sunday, am off to golf soon, was supposed to fly a fix wing then the UAV but have had enough of flying for one weekend. Let me know what you think. Thanks for listening....GO THE PIES Gonzo 007. Retired Expert Of Everything Insignificant, Photography, UAV Video's. UAV Pilot. Golf Putter Extraordinaire.
