4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - September 2018 Edition

with HQ Training Command Sydney as QM. Term of service was 2 Aug 1966- 2 Aug 1986 and discharged SSgt in Perth. I currently live in the United Kingdom (away from the tropics) Kind Regards. Terry Hills Retired person. From Lindsay Walpole 17.02.18 Hi Peter, thanks for the Old Boys Newsletter. Yes, I’m still around although the dear lord has tried to end it, in the last 18 years I have had Diabetics 2, Heart valve replacement surgery, Cancer and an Aneurysm of the brain, although a few of the happy chappies reckon that’s rubbish because I don’t have a brain. I enjoy the newsletter and send it on. Thank you mate. From Hilton Lenard (107 Battery Association) G'day Peter, I personally strongly support your proposal. (This was re the books to be purchased for 4 th Regiment – more on this later). 107 Battery Association gives 4 books annually to the 107 Battery 'best & fairest'. As Treasurer of the RAAANQ, we also give books and a handmade NCO baton to the Regt each year. So, it would be easy for the 4 Field Regt (SVN) Assn to fit in with one/some integrated similar awards. Paddy has advised that you both are talking, so I will leave you in his excellent hands to fix the fine details. Regards Hilton From Denis Pfundt OK by me. (The books issue) From Robert Gowling (106 Bty/4th Field Regiment, 1st tour SVN) Hello Peter. Thank you for your advices regarding the opportunity to be included in annual awards made to Regimental Members as described. I fully support such an initiative and agree working with the Regiment is best accepting there will likely be at some time “down the track”, a difference of view with Regiment however I would take the view that by that time, precedence would have been established. Establishing with Regiment, the awards would be made in person wherever possible (in the foreseeable future) by a previous serving member of 4th Field after which eventually 4 Regiment would take that role. Directing the awards at younger members is very positive. If it is considered the awards structure as laid out should continue onwards, perhaps consideration to establishing a separate financial summary in the annual accounts would help future identification within our Group and maybe to ensure as far as possible any future transfer of funds (when we are all ‘gone’) goes to these awards until funds dry up. I would certainly be prepared to contribute to such awards. Regards Robert. From Tim Ford. Peter, I fully support this plain. Perhaps you should put an initial time limit on the support, say 10 years, and see how it goes. Cheers Tim Ford. From John Hume. No probs from me mate. All good. John Hume From Keith Hall. Good idea, sort out the details later. Keith Hall. From David Anderson. Go for it! From Brian Swift . Peter, I am in 100 percent. In fact, I am prepared to sponsor one of the prizes each year if appropriate. Regards Swifty From Barny Barnard . Good idea Peter, I support these awards and will do so when contributions are sought.
