4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - November 2019 Edition

Lance paints a graphic picture of life in Japan after the dropping of the first atomic bomb and much of the goings on behind the scenes. Both books pose many questions regarding our allegiance to the “Mother Country” and our involvement with the USA. Both well worth a read. Well folks, that’s it for now. By the way, it was great to catch up with several Old Boys at the Annual Gunner Dinner hosted by the Australian Artillery Association in Caloundra back in August. Tim Ford, Syd Farrow and Tom Beynon were there to fly the flag for our Regiment. A great chance to catch up with old mates. Don’t forget to let me know of any ideas for 2020 and we’ll see what we can do. It is now Friday the 1 st November and the wind has kick-started several hot spots near us. The planes and choppers are back so hopefully they can jump on them pretty quickly. The local volunteer fire brigade has been out all night patrolling around the edges of the fire and all was quite until the wind came back. Possible showers forecast for Monday, so we’ll see what happens. I think we are all in for a long hot summer. Here is a link that Johno sent in and well worth following up. https://youtu.be/4qaupiCp4GI Until next edition, best wishes to one and all. Peter Bruce
