4 TH FIELD REGIMENT (SVN) ASSOCIATION AKA 4TH FIELD REGT OLD BOYS Patron: David Anderson. Treasurer: Gabby Hayes. NEWSLETTER No 41 – Spring 2020 All Correspondence to Peter Bruce, 33 Cathie Circuit, Lake Cathie NSW 2445 or pjbruce8@bigpond.net.au Mobile is 0419 349 317 Hi everyone, I’m a bit late with this one but then again, it is still spring which gives me a bit of leeway, I guess. Very little correspondence to report so you have to put up with my ramblings. Since the last Winter Edition, I contacted a few individuals about missing persons – well, missing from my mailing list anyway. Some who have dropped off the mailing list include HK Smith, Mario Bernasconi and George Allingame. Thanks for those in WA who responded to my call but still haven’t received any email addresses for them. Lance Grimstone caught up with Graeme Leonard in Townsville recently. Graeme had gone through a few issues but apparently back on the right track. Lance and Olli Grimstone recently completed a big trip around all parts of Queensland. They have a great little mobile home and by the photos had some wonderful adventures. The massive cold front that came through our area over the last few days has prompted me to get this edition in the mail. Certainly, wasn’t as bad here as some areas and I feel for those living down Mexico way and for the farming community our west where frosts at this stage of cropping can have a disastrous effect. Hope everyone is staying safe and surviving the various lockdowns etc. Drop me a line and let me know how things are in your area. Until next time, take care. Regards, Peter. From Spud Murphy on 3 April Hi Pete. Thanks again for the Newsletter and the effort you put in. Interesting to hear Dave Drabble speaking about the "Heart Mob" in WA what a motley crew we were but enjoyed some great gatherings. Wonderful to hear they are still going I send my regards. Kind Regards Spud Murphy Bo Plenty and Keith Hall were both members of 102 Battery in Malaya from 1963 to 1965. They are preparing a presentation to the Keswick Barracks Army Museum in Adelaide. The presentation will look something like this: 102 Field Battery Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery was posted to Malaysia from 1963-65 stationed at Terendak Garrison near Malacca. During a live firing activity at Asahan Range in October 1964, the battery was informed that a group of Indonesian insurgents had landed by sea near the mouth of the Kesang River, close to the small kampong of Merlimau on
