4 Field Regiment (SVN) 'Old Boys' Newsletter - September 2021 Edition

are going to be in Brisbane or just turn up at the SB Hotel during the afternoon. Syd Farrow said he will be there to keep everyone in line. As for me, well I’m still undecided where to spend ANZAC Day. Sydney Andrew Murray is the point of contact for activities in Sydney. Contact Andrew on 0428 813 221 or email am827@hotmail.com Unfortunately nearly all venues require prebooking so if you are going to be in Sydney and want to catch up with other ‘Old Boys’, get in touch with Andrew. No details about the march at this stage but looks like it may go ahead. Melbourne I have not heard from anyone in the Melbourne area except for PJ Smith who with his role as Appeals Director for RSL Victoria, will be pretty busy most of the day. Perth The usual gatherings I suppose. No further details available at this stage. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ WO2 Steve Wilson who is the current Welfare Officer of 4th Regiment in Townsville has sent me information on the Regiments 61st Anniversary activities this year. I suggest that if you are intending to partake of the celebrations, you email Steve directly at steven.wilson20@defence.gov.au or phone him directly on 0447 198 297. They particularly need to know if you plan on attending the Cocktail Party. PJ Smith and I will be attending at this stage. Good morning Peter, Hope you are well. Please find attached the flyer for this year’s anniversary for any of your members interested in attending. We need numbers for catering purposes and likely for COVID planning. We will create a Facebook event page to gather interested attendees. Otherwise you can inform me of numbers via these means and I will place you on a mailing list. I only ask that your members only use one avenue to register interest. FYI, we will have laptops and scanners in location on day two. If your veterans have any pictures they wish to place in our Regiment’s digital history collection, then have them bring their photo albums or thumb-drives. Steve Wilson WO2 Unit Welfare Officer 4 Regt RAA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I recently attended a Mental Health First Aid course sponsored by the Open Arms organisation. I found it quite interesting with some interesting stats thrown about. Did you know that one in five Australians suffer from some form of Mental Health Issue? Some are obviously more serious than others but for everyone there are quite a few ways of getting help. Early intervention is the key to most issues and the Open Arms phone number of 1800 011 046 is an important number to have in your phone. You may not need it but you may come across someone who does. Open Arms run a variety of courses including: Doing Anger Differently, Stress and Relaxation and Building Better Relationships. More
