4th Field Regiment (SVN) Association Newsletter No 59 - 2025
17 Dec – I had a phone call from Gus Weir in South Australia. He had just back from visiting grandchildren in Texas. He reminded me that there is no place like home. We hope to catch up in March. He would love a reunion. He and john Derbyshire use the DVA sponsored Heart Health Program. Left is Gus Weir in a playful mode outside his “five” star accommodation back in 70/71. I have not seen Gus since we left the Mayfair Hotel in Kings Cross on 12 March 1971. Really looking forward to catching up with him in Adelaide in March sometime. From John Derbyshire G 'day Pete, First, let me congratulate (and thank) you for all your hard work producing our newsletter as well as all the updates throughout the year. Unfortunately, as time marches on, more of us depart for the "gun park in the sky". I recognise that this is the catalyst for a lot more work for you. I - for one - appreciate being informed of the departure of our colleagues as I get to say a quite farewell from here in Adelaide. It is - after all - 54 years since 107 battery left Viet Nam (damn it- that statement makes me feel old!). I look forward to reading that which you produce next year and the years that follow too!. Second may I wish you, your family and all our 4 Field Regiment colleagues – past and present - a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! May 2025 bring us all success, health and happiness in abundance. Keep up the good work mate, and … Cheers, John Derbyshire, Seco, 107 Fd Bty 1970-71 Ron Hall sent me two emails to add to our mailing list. Fred Zefara and Ray King. Thanks to Ron. Welcome back Fred and Ray. Now might be a great time to get in touch with an Old Boy who may not be in receipt of our emails. Try reaching out and pass on the information about the new look web page and newsletters.
