Comrades gathered once again
Men who served us well
Older now but young at heart
Bigger chests to swell
Medals bright on blazers, coats
worn with so much pride
Just as well they've gained in girth
They need their chest that wide40 years have come
and gone
Since they faced the strife
Some would ask "Where's that time gone?"
Most accept "That's Life!!"
Coral was the Battle
That changed these boys to men
Something that we all would hope
They'll never face again
They lost good mates, they went through hell
Some suffered worse than others
Those that remain remember friends
Like Scott.....Sawtell.....their brothers
They've never know this "after-life"
Spent celebrating stories - on ANZAC Days -
The memories - the fun - remembered glories
But those who have them in their hearts
Remember them with pride
Bring them back to life at Times - like this -
They've never died
So in closing let us raise a glass
To toast this fine reunion
and trust that our eternal flame
will burn until we meet again. |
